Textbook Rental – Terms & Conditions
By renting, you agree to the following terms.  Penn College may update these terms at any time by posting them online.
1. Payment
  • Your account is charged at time of purchase.
  • A valid credit card must be kept on file (Visa, MasterCard, Discover).
2. What Can Be Rented
  • Only books that are okayed by our wholesale vendor.
  • If your book includes supplements, you must return them with the book.
3. When You Receive Your Book
  • Check your rental right away for any damage. If you discover any damage, please contact Penn College as soon as possible.
  • You are responsible for any damage or lost books.
4. Early Returns
  • You may return a rental within the first 14 days of school for a full refund
  • Lost or stolen books will be charged a replacement fee. This would be difference of the retail prices and the rental price.
5. Returning Your Rental
  • Rentals must be returned by the end of the semester to avoid be any charges or penalties.
6. Book Condition Requirements at the End of the Rental Period
  • Spine and pages intact
  • No water or other major damages
  • No writing or highlighting
  • If the book is too damaged, you will be charged a replacement fee of $25.00.
7. Late or Non-Returned Rentals
  • If rental books are not returned by the due date, you will be automatically charged a (Non-Return Fee of $25.00 for each book not returned along with the full price of the book minus what you already paid.)
  • Once you pay the Non-Return Fees, the book becomes yours.
If your card is declined, we will put a hold on your grades through the Bursar’s Office and you will not be allowed to rent any additional books until unpaid balances are settled.
8. Ownership
  • Penn College owns the book during the rental period.
  • You are borrowing it for a limited time.
  • If you purchase it or are charged the Non-Return Fee, it becomes your property.
9. Buying Your Rental
  • You may buy certain rental titles any time before the return date. **Exclusions may apply**
  • Purchase price = book list price minus rental fees already paid.
  • Purchased rentals are final sale (no returns only buyback option).
10. Important Reminder
Penn College will send out at least 4 reminder emails, but you are responsible for knowing and meeting your return date.
